Supplemental Services

Grant Description

Three percent of state Adult Education funding is used to fund activities that support adult education programs and staff across Minnesota in key areas, as outlined in Minnesota Statute 124D.522. The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) makes this funding available through Adult Education Supplemental Service Grant opportunities. Eligible applicants must be non-profit organizations or adult basic education grant-funded providers.

Current Supplemental Service Grants focus on providing support to Minnesota adult education programs and staff in the following areas:

  • Assessment and Support Staff Training
  • Digital Learning and Technology Services
  • Disability Services
  • Professional Development and System Support
  • Racial Equity in Adult Education
  • Statewide Initiatives, Conference, and Marketing Activities
  • Volunteer and Outreach Services

Next Application Period

The Minnesota Department of Education conducts a grant competition for Adult Education Supplemental Service funding every three years.  The next competition is anticipated to be in spring 2027.
