Accountability

National Reporting System Logo

The accountability system for Minnesota Adult Education exists to ensure that Adult Education providers are positive and effective stewards of the public funds used to provide Adult Education programming. Both state and federal Adult Education law include provisions for required data collection and reporting, including elements such as student demographic info, contact hours, and assessment results. These data elements can be used to evaluate programs and provide key information about outcomes for Adult Education participants across the state of Minnesota.

Accountability in Minnesota Adult Education is largely connected to the National Reporting System, or NRS. The NRS comprises a set of data specifications, data collection methodologies, and reporting requirements established by the federal Office of Career, Technical and Adult Education (OCTAE) in order to comply with requirements under WIOA. In addition to federal requirements outlined in the NRS, Minnesota’s Adult Education statutes include similar provisions for data collection and reporting. Information in this section can support programs in complying with both state and federal reporting requirements.

SiD – Data System for Minnesota Adult Education

The Student Information Database, referred to as SiD, is a key part of the accountability system for the Minnesota Adult Education system. Adult Education staff use SiD to track data about students and programming, including student demographic info, contact hours, test results, attendance, and measurable skill gains. In addition, SiD offers programs a multitude of reporting options to help pull useful data such as attendance trends, assessment results, and program-wide outcomes.
