In 2016, the Minnesota state legislature appropriated $100,000 to be used for Navigating and Advising Support Services within ABE programs. A competitive process for these funds resulted in 5 grantees:
- St. Paul Community Literacy Consortium
- Southwest ABE
- Mankato Area ABE
- Minneapolis
- Adult Academic Program of Robbinsdale
All grantees proposed to use these funds in ways that create sustainable efforts towards bolstering and improving our system of navigating support within ABE. Funded projects include training volunteers as navigators, supporting students to help do navigating for other students, strengthening current partnerships with partners such as workforce centers, and developing a PLC for navigators to learn and share knowledge together.
